Control Spring Allergies By Improving Indoor Air Quality

Despite central Arizona’s arid climate, the area is filled with pollen-producing plants, two of which are the main culprits during allergy season. These plants include cynodon dactylon and morus alba. If you’re looking to improve your indoor and outdoor allergies, here are some tips to better manage them:

    • Change your furnace filter habitually. Your filter collects dusts, dander and pollen, which is just being blown back into the air once the filter is full. To prevent your furnace from reintroducing these harmful particles into the air, you must change your filter regularly, so check it monthly and change it every three months at a minimum.
    • Use your air conditioner. You might be wondering what your A/C has to do with how you control spring allergies. Well, the unit removes excess moisture from the air, which is a breeding ground for mildew and mold—both of which are known to cause allergy symptoms.
    • Don’t wear shoes inside your home. As soon as you enter into your home, make it a habit to take your shoes off at the door. If not, you’re bringing pollen and other allergens into your home. In order to control spring allergies, you should also change your clothes if you’ve spent a lot of time outside.
    • Wash your linens weekly. Wash your sheets, comforter and pillowcases regularly, because dust and other allergens accumulate of them and can make sleeping quite difficult.
    • Buy a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Allergens are in your carpet and on other surfaces that you come in contact with daily. To remove the allergens, you should purchase a vacuum with a HEPA filter that will not only remove dust, but also rid your home of known causes of allergy symptoms.
    • Buy an air purifier. An air purifier removes mold spores, dust, dander and pollen from the air.

The helpful hints above are just some of the ways to control spring allergies. The professionals at Wolff Mechanical can help you determine the best way for you family to help control spring allergies. Contact us today with any questions you may have.
